Curator’s Perspective: Joselina Cruz

Curator’s Perspective: Joselina Cruz Tuesday, March 15, 2016 7–8:30pm Hunter College MFA Campus 205 Hudson Street Gallery 2nd Floor New York, NY 10013 FREE As part of ICI’s Curator’s Perspective—an itinerant public discussion series featuring national and international curators—Joselina Cruz will speak about her recent curatorial projects, as well as the contemporary art scene in Manila. In her role as Director and Curator at the Museum of Contemporary Art and Design (MCAD) in Manila, Cruz will discuss her current exhibitions and the larger context of the art scene in Manila. MCAD is the only space in the Philippines that functions as an international contemporary art museum or kunsthalle. It recently opened to the public and has featured acclaimed exhibitions, such as Paul Pfeiffer: Vitruvian Figure (2015) and The Surface of The World: Architecture and The Moving Image (2014), which showcased new work by Filipino and international artists including Tacita Dean, John Gerard, Isaac Julien, and Apichatpong Weerasethakul, among others. Please RSVP to rsvp@curatorsintl.org with JOSELINA in the subject line.

The Curator’s Perspective is a free, itinerant public discussion series featuring U.S. and international curators, and developed as a way for audiences in New York to connect with timely information about a wide variety of international perspectives on contemporary art today. The series sheds light on movements and models that are still in formation or have been overlooked. This year, speakers in the series have included curators based in London, Manila, Paris, and São Paulo addressing questions about art, culture, and the exhibitions in which they are most interested, as well as the artists and the socio-political contexts that are shaping curatorial practice now. The Curator’s Perspective series has been made possible, in part, by grants from the Hartfield Foundation and by generous contributions from the ICI Board of Trustees and ICI Access Fund.
