Dana Levy: belonging/s

Dana Levy, The Wake, 2011, video still Dana Levy: belonging/s Thursday, March 14, 2013 6:30–8pm ICI Curatorial Hub 401 Broadway, Suite 1620 New York, NY 10013 ICI is pleased to present the launch of Dana Levy’s new artist’s book World Order, which was produced for her 2012 solo show at The Center for Contemporary Arts Tel Aviv in affiliation with Braverman Gallery and Sternthal Books. In Dana Levy’s creations, memory, identity, and the relationship between man and nature raise questions of the notion of home, belonging, and migration. What is the relationship between the natural and unnatural, and how does cataloging come into play in man’s basic instinct to control the environment and to subdue the wild? By looking at Levy’s videos, video installations, and photography, the conversation will explore a historical as well as a personal context to a contemporary socio-political reality in the Middle East and around the globe. This is the first in a series of conversations at ICI initiated by curator and artist Naomi Lev, focusing on art and artists from Israel. This event is free and open to the public. Please RSVP to rsvp@curatorsintl.org with DANA LEVY in the subject field. For more information, please contact ICI’s Public Programs & Research Coordinator Misa Jeffereis at misa@curatorsintl.org.
