Highlights from the Annual Benefit & Auction

On Tuesday November 19, 2013, ICI hosted its Annual Benefit & Auction and honored Miuccia Prada with the 2013 Leo Award, and Germano Celant with the 2013 Agnes Gund Curatorial Award. The Awards, created by artist Liz Glynn, were presented by Agnes Gund, ICI Trustee Emerita. Held at the legendary Center548, the evening was crafted by New York’s expert event designers Jung Lee and Josh Brooks of FÊTE, who shaped the night into magic. Guests entered through the freight elevator, fitted with a bar serving our specialty cocktail, the Firecracker, a creation of Forrest Butler, co-owner of Royal Rose Simple Syrup, and made with Tito’s Handmade Vodka. The full bar also featured Starr African Rum, Abita Beer, Chateau Ste. Michelle Wines, and by VOSS Water, all provided generously by our sponsors. Hors d’oeuvres included hand-shucked oysters by Oysters XO, and a seasonal menu was served by Acquolina. Following dinner, classical music artist Amadéus Leopold, took the evening into new realms with a special performance featuring solo violin works by J. S. Bach, Niccolo Paganini and Fritz Kreisler. And Alix Brown played evocative, vintage tunes, keeping the party going all night! The evening’s silent auction was powered by Artsy, and the live auction was led by the dynamic Alexander Rotter, Senior Vice President Head of Department New York Contemporary Art, Sotheby’s. Our warmest thanks to Alexander Rotter, and to the entire team at Artsy for their partnership, taking this year’s auction to record-breaking heights. And our most special thanks go to all the artists who showed such commitment to ICI by generously donating their works to the auction: Kamrooz Aram, Korakrit Arunanondchai, John Baldessari, Gina Beavers, Ellen Berkenblit, Walead Beshty, CHRISTO, Martin Soto Climent, Alex Da Corte, Jim Drain, Brock Enright, Claire Fontaine, Charles Harlan, Daniel Heidkamp, Carsten Höller, Colin Hunt, Jennie C.
