Olivia Whetung awarded 2020 OAC’s Emerging Artist Laureate Award


Olivia Whetung is the recipient of the 2020 Ontario Arts Council’s Emerging Artist Laureate Award. OAC’s Aboriginal Arts Awards recognize the achievements of rising Indigenous artists and artistic leaders who have contributed to the arts in Ontario, with the Emerging Artist Laureate honoring emerging arts leadership. Whetung’s work Strata, 2018 is included in ICI’s traveling exhibition Soundings: An Exhibition in Five Parts Soundings: An Exhibition in Five Parts is a traveling exhibition curated by Candice Hopkins and Dylan Robinson, and organized by Agnes Etherington Art Centre, Queen’s University, Canada and Independent Curators International (ICI). The exhibition and tour are made possible, in part, with the generous support from ICI’s International Forum and the ICI Board of Trustees.
