Window Sessions: Chris Romero and Wang Yefeng

Window Sessions: Chris Romero and Wang Yefeng Wednesday, January 25 7–8:30pm ICI Curatorial Hub 401 Broadway, Suite 1620 FREE and open to the public Independent curator Chris Romero discusses his web-based curatorial project Tokyo Window Sessions, followed by a conversation with media artist Wang Yefeng. Most recently, Chris Romero participated in curatorial residencies at Tokyo Wonder Site and 3331 Arts Chiyoda in Tokyo. For this Hub program, Romero will speak about his web-based research project Tokyo Window Sessions, which investigates contemporary media art and digital culture in Japan. Attempting to strengthen the relationship between the U.S. and Japan (in regard to media art), the project is multi-faceted in nature, incorporating artist interviews, an exhibition, and personal documentation. Romero will share his experiences as a curator-in-residence in Japan, the challenges of organizing the project, and the results of the project versus his initial intentions and expectations. His vision for expanding the project to South Korea in September 2017 will also be addressed. Following this, media artist Wang Yefeng will join the conversation, providing his insight into media art in China. This event is free and open to the public. To attend, please RSVP to rsvp@curatorsintl.org with WINDOW in the subject line. This program is supported, in part, by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with City Council, and the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and the New York State Legislature.
