do it, Ernesto Neto homage to Lygia Pape, 2013

The exhibition do it, opening tomorrow at Garage Museum of Contemporary Art, includes a series of homages dedicated to artists in the project who are no longer with us. do it (homage) is comprised of a selection of artworks created in honor of the instruction’s original author.

Among the artworks presented at Garage are Pedro Reyes’ wearable sculpture Walking on a Moebius Poncho in honor of Lygia Clark, Lawrence Weiner’s piece Done it for John Chamberlain, created according to John Chamberlain’s original instruction, and the performance Cleaning Conditions, created by Suzanne Lacy according to the 1995 do it instruction Chores by Allan Kaprow. Other homages include Ernesto Neto’s enactment of an instruction by Lygia Pape, Tony Ousler’s work Shrunk honoring David Askevold, and Christodoulos Panayiotou Projects for Poems created in honor of Joan Brossa.

do it Moscow is developed by Garage Museum of Contemporary Art in collaboration with Independent Curators International (ICI) New York. Curated by Snejana Krasteva and Anastasia Mityushina. Architect: Andreas Angelidakis.
