Avelino Sala

Avelino Sala is an artist, editor of Sublime magazine, and curator in the group Commission Curatorial Collective. His work takes on reality and political context, rethinking the social and cultural in terms of poetics and post-romantic point of view. His work has been featured in many different museums and galleries, among the most recent are the Museo Arte Contemporaneo of Vitoria, (Detente!, 2010); Virgil de Voldere Gallery, New York, (Hostil, 2009); Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía (Reencontres Internacionales, 2009); X Bienal de la Habana, (Comunicacionismos, 2009); A Foundation, London (Off the Street, 2009); October Contemporary, Hong Kong (Insert Coin, Spanish Young Art, 2009); Tina B, Prague Biennial, (Small Revolutions, 2008); and the Chelsea Art Museum (The Promised Land, 2008). He received a grant from Real Academia de España en Roma, and worked in Rome, and he is currently in residency at Le Lait space in Toulouse, France.
