Bakirathi Mani
Bakirathi Mani is Associate Professor of Asian American Studies in the Department of English Literature at Swarthmore College. Her essays on South Asian immigration, popular culture, and globalization have been published in a number of academic journals. She has curated public talks, panels and film festivals featuring Asian American and South Asian artists in the San Francisco Bay Area as well as in Philadelphia. Bakirathi Mani earned her Ph.D. in Modern Thought and Literature from Stanford University (2002), an M.A. in Modern Indian History from Jawaharlal Nehru University (1997), and B.S.F.S. from Georgetown University (1995). In 2009-10 she worked with artists, curators and gallery owners in New York City as a Visiting Scholar at the Center for the Study of Ethnicity and Race, Columbia University.
