Freya Chou
Freya Chou is a writer and curator based in Hong Kong. She was a curator of Para Site, Hong Kong from 2015 to 2019. Prior to that she was Co-curator of the 10th Shanghai Biennial (with Anselm Franke, Cosmin Costinas and Liu Xiao, 2014), Assistant Curator of the 7th Taipei Biennial (co-curated by Hongjohn Lin and Tirdad Zolghadr, 2010) and Curatorial Assistant of the 6th Taipei Biennial (co- curated by Manray Hsu and Vasif Kortun, 2008). At Para Site, she organized and oversaw the education and public programs, including annual International Conference, Workshops for Emerging Art Professionals and curated the exhibitions: Ellen Pau: What About Home A?airs? – A Retrospective (2018-19), Chris Evans, Pak Sheung Chuen: Two Exhibitions (touring at Hong-Gah Museum, Taipei, 2019), and Afterwork (with Cosmin Costinas, Inti Guerrero and Qinyi Lim, touring at Ilham Gallery, Kuala Lumpur, 2016-2017). Other curatorial projects include An Asia Survey – Bruce Yonemoto (Hong-Gah Museum, Taipei, 2015), A Practicing Life (Taipei Fine Arts Museum, 2014), Terra Nulls – How to be a Nationalist (documentary producer, 2013-2014, Taiwan/USA), The Two Year project (with Lin Hongjohn and Tirdad Zolghadr, 2010-2012, Taipei). She has edited and contributed her writing to many books, magazines, and exhibition catalogues.
