Inés Katzenstein is the inaugural director of the Patricia Phelps de Cisneros Research Institute for the Study of Art from Latin America at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. She previously served as the Director of the Department of Art at the Universidad Torcuato di Tella, Buenos Aires. She has written extensively on contemporary art and has curated a number of exhibitions including Liliana Porter: Photography and Fiction at Centro Cultural Recoleta, Buenos Aires (2003), and David Lamelas, Alien, Foreigner, Ètranger, Aüslander at Museo Rufino Tamayo, Mexico (2005). She has co-curated Di Tella, an Episode in the History of TV, Espacio Fundación Telefónica, Buenos Aires (2010), and Aquella mañana fue como si recuperara si no la felicidad, sí la energía, una energía que se parecía mucho al humor, un humor que se parecía mucho a la memoria, Parque de la Memoria, Buenos Aires (2013). She was curator of the Argentina Pavillion in the 52nd Venice Biennale, where she presented the project Guillermo Kuitca, si yo fuera el invierno mismo. She was also co-curator of Zona Franca, Mercosur Biennial (2007), with projects by Leopoldo Estol and M7red. From 2004–08 she served as curator at Malba-Fundación Costantini, Museo de Arte Latinoamericano de Buenos Aires, where she oversaw the contemporary programming and began the museum’s collection of contemporary Argentinian art. Katzenstein received an MA from the Center for Curatorial Studies, Bard College, New York (2001).
