Jimmy Ogonga
Jimmy Ogonga is an artist and producer, working intermittently between art production and curatorial practice. In 2001, he founded a polyvalent space, the Centre for Contemporary Art, East Africa (CCA, Nairobi), an initiative that works as a catalyst for the visual arts and the creation of significant art projects. In 200609, he curated Amnesia, a multidisciplinary roving research and exhibition project that brought together artists from Africa and its scattered Diasporas. He has co-curated projects including Space: Currencies in Contemporary African Art (2010, Johannesburg), and was a member of “Incubator for a pan-African roaming biennial,” a yearlong project arranged to facilitate the articulation of critical positions regarding the notion of a Pan-African Biennial, as part of Manifesta 8. He was technical advisor (2013) and is co-curator (2014) of the Addis Ababa Foto Festival. Ogonga is Curator of the Kenya Pavilion for the 57th Venice Biennale.
