Ondine Chavoya: Axis Mundo Thursday, November 9, 2017 6:30–8pm ICI Curatorial Hub 401 Broadway, Suite 1620 FREE and open to the public C. Ondine Chavoya will discuss the traveling exhibition Axis Mundo: Queer Networks in Chicano L.A. that he co-curated with David Evans Frantz. The exhibition is currently on view at MOCA Pacific Design Center and The ONE Gallery in West Hollywood, California, and is part of Pacific Standard Time (PST): LA/LA. Chavoya will consider the process of recovering queer Chicana/o histories and artists’ archives in the overall research for the show and accompanying catalogue. The multi-year research into both institutional archives and personal collections uncovered surprising finds and unexpected connections in the process of organizing Axis Mundo. Full exhibition details can be found here. The presentation will be followed by a brief Q&A with ICI’s Director of Exhibitions, Alaina Claire Feldman. This program is part of a talk series featuring the curators of some of the key exhibitions organized as part of Pacific Standard Time (PST): LA/LA in California this Fall. The series will run through the Spring and offer New York audiences an opportunity to learn first-hand about the curatorial ideas and research generated by PST: LA/LA. This event is free and open to the public. To attend, please RSVP to rsvp@curatorsintl.org with AXIS in the subject line. This program is supported, in part, by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with City Council, and the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and the New York State Legislature.
