ICI 2016 ANNUAL BENEFIT & AUCTION

ICI 2016 Benefit & Auction Wednesday, October 26 Cocktails at 6:30pm Dinner at 7:30pm Cedar Lake 547 West 26th Street New York City Join ICI’s Annual Benefit & Auction on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 as we reaffirm our commitment to curatorial practice and contemporary art. Raise a glass to the future of the organization, and in support of ICI’s new programs and partnerships. On the occasion, ICI will honor Marian Goodman with the Leo Award, and will present the Gerrit Lansing Independent Vision Award, given every other year to an emerging curator who will be selected among young professionals nominated by leading international curators. CELEBRATE ICI The 2016 Host Committee and Benefit Committee, co-chaired by Noreen Ahmad, Ann Cook and Yulia Dultsina, together with the entire ICI Board of Trustees and staff invite you to join us for an evening of art, cocktails, dinner and music: celebrations that promise to be memorable. ICI’s 2016 Annual Benefit & Auction will celebrate our 41-year commitment to curatorial excellence, and be an occasion to raise a glass to the organization’s future, as ICI continues to forge important international networks for curators, artists, art spaces and all practitioners in the field of contemporary art. Our co-chairs are once more collaborating with Jung Lee and Josh Brooks, who together form FÊTE, New York’s expert event planners, in the creation of this special soirée in support of ICI. This year again, FÊTE will beautifully transform Cedar Lake, the former home of the celebrated Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet Company, located at 547 West 26 Street in the heart of New York’s Chelsea District. The event will be catered by the innovative Abigail Kirsch and the online auction is powered by ARTSY. LIVE & SILENT AUCTION This year again, ICI is proud to benefit from the generosity of artists who have consistently shown great confidence in ICI and support for its programs. We could not thank them enough. The 2016 Auction will feature artworks by Renate Aller, Zoë Buckman, Sarah Charlesworth, Fischer Cherry, Willie Cole, TM Davy, Brock Enright, Jennie Jieun Lee, Chris Johanson, Tarik Kiswanson, Justine Kurland, Jessica Mein, John Newman, Giacinto Occhionero, Gabriel Orozco, Lina Puerta, Alan Shields, Ray Smith, Alec Soth, Betty Woodman and experiences with Rashid Johnson, Tony Matelli, Vik Muniz, Eduardo Navarro and more. In a continued partnership, the live auction will be led by Gabby Palmieri, Senior Vice President, Senior Specialist, Contemporary Art of Sotheby’s, New York. ICI and Artsy have also renewed their collaboration to offer a unique auction experience online and during the event. Both the silent and live auction will be previewed on Artsy.net, where bidding will begin early; and during the evening, guests will place their bids together with those of international ICI supporters, who in the past have logged in from as far as Hong Kong and Oslo. Marian-Goodman_m THE LEO AWARD With the Leo Award this year, ICI recognizes Marian Goodman, a steadfast advocate for artists and contemporary art, and continues to commemorate Leo Castelli’s legacy by recognizing for the first time another pioneer gallerist. For half a century, Goodman has shown deep commitment to fostering the careers of some of the most significant and respected artists of our times, with a distinctive vision — international in scope, thoughtful, and always intimately supportive of the creative process — that is in many ways connected to ICI’s mission. The award will be presented by ICI’s Trustee Emerita Agnes Gund.
IVC_2016_PhotoGrid_m THE INDEPENDENT VISION CURATORIAL AWARD Established in 2010 as an initiative of the Gerrit Lansing Education Fund, the Independent Vision Curatorial Award reflects ICI’s commitment to supporting international curators early in their careers who have shown exceptional creativity and prescience in their exhibition-making, research, and related writing.
