Baphomet, named after the English deity, features Syms signature color choice of purple, and employs her practice of appropriating imagery from popular culture and the internet, in this case replicating a faceless devil emoji. Syms (b. 1988, Los Angeles, CA) is a Los Angeles-based artist. Syms has exhibited widely, including presentations at the Museum of Modern Art, Hammer Museum, ICA London, New Museum, Museum of Contemporary Art Los Angeles, the Graham Foundation, and The Studio Museum in Harlem, among many other acclaimed institutions. More recently, she had her second solo exhibition at Bridget Donahue and participated in the 2019 Whitney Biennial. Kahlil Robert IrvingMusic Memorial in Film [(Greeting Screening Chained ) Daily Ritual & tribute(TERROR)], 2019 Personally constructed decal on industrial ceramic tile 14 1/4 x 9 7/8 inches Edition of 20 + 3 APs $2,500 + shipping Kahlil Robert Irving’s ceramic sculptures critically engage with the history of the medium and challenge constructs around identity and culture in western civilization. This examination of the digital media, memory, and race in Irving’s practice is embedded in each ceramic tile. Irving (b. 1992, San Diego, CA) lives and works between St. Louis, Missouri and New York. Recent exhibitions include the critically acclaimed show titled Black ICE at Callicoon Fine Arts, New York, and the upcoming 2019 Singapore Biennale. Irving’s work can be found in the collections of the Whitney Museum of American Art, Carnegie Museum of Art, and Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art among many others. MADE IN CATTELAND MUSEUMS LEAGUE scarf for ICI 2019 100% Acrylic 7 1/2 x 79 1/2 inches Unique set of 193 scarfs created exclusively for ICI $150 + $5 domestic shipping MUSEUMS LEAGUE is a project designed by Maurizio Cattelan for museums around the world. It consists of a custom scarf inspired by football team scarves. This extra-long, fringed acrylic scarf is woven with the words “INDEPENDENT CURATORS” and includes the year of ICI’s founding, 1975. Controversial and wildly popular, Maurizio Cattelan’s work lampoons icons and societal conventions, as serious in their implicit critiques as in their humorous irreverence. Cattelan has seen his works exhibited at the Venice Biennale and the Whitney Biennial as well as at numerous institutions, including Centre Georges Pompidou, the Tate Gallery, and the Museum of Modern Art.
