Joshua Rashaad McFadden: Come to Selfhood Tuesday, November 15 6:308pm ICI Curatorial Hub 401 Broadway, Suite 1620 FREE and open to the public Artist Joshua Rashaad McFadden joins writer Jordan G. Teicher for a conversation about politics, race and identity. The discussion will focus on the various roots of McFaddens practice seen through his Selfhood series, placing the artists work in the context of others who have influenced him, including Hank Willis Thomas, Lyle Ashton Harris and Deborah Willis. Teicher and McFadden will also discuss several other works including Colorism, a series of works that explore the historical relationship between skin tone and power; After Selma, which finds connections between the 1965 march from Selma to Montgomery and todays civil rights movement; and Come to Selfhood, McFaddens International Photography Award-winning book investigating black masculinity through juxtaposed images and personal reflections on intergenerational familial relationships.
