Leah Gordon | Alternative Strategies in the Caribbean Tuesday, January 26, 2016 6:308pm ICI Curatorial Hub 401 Broadway, Suite 1620 FREE and open to the public Leah Gordon and Andre Eugene, recipients of the 2015 Colección Patricia Phelps de Cisneros Travel Award for Central America and the Caribbean, will present on their research trips to the Dominican Republic and Trinidad and Tobago. Gordon and Eugene focused their research on regional models of artists self-organization, alternative strategies of community organization, and alternative residency projects within the Caribbean region, in relation their own project, the Ghetto Biennale. During the course of their trip in the Dominican Republic, Leah Gordon and Andre Eugene interviewed a number of artists and curators, and visited the Davidoff Initiative, the Museum La Altagracia, the Centro Cultural Eduardo León Jimenes, and Casa Quien Gallery, among other spaces.
