Novel: Tiago de Abreu Pinto and Sreshta Rit Premnath in conversation Thursday, July 12, 2018 6:308pm ICI Curatorial Hub 401 Broadway, Suite 1620 FREE and open to the public Artist Sreshta Rit Premnath discusses his practice with Curatorial Intensive alum Tiago de Abreu Pinto, whose recent project is focused on art-writing by means of storytelling through the medium of the novel. The short novels being developed by de Abreu Pinto, including one about Premnath’s practice, are an exploration of dialectics and of Mikhail Bakhtin’s dialogical forms to explore new modes of critical mediation. During the talk de Abreu Pinto will explore the way that artists become fictional characters in the field of the novel (e.g. Library without Titles (2017) at the Reina Sofia Library & La Casa Encendida), casting light on interpretation and neutrality, the limits between fiction and reality, and the different forms in which contemporary artists embody their ideas. This event is free and open to the public. To attend, please RSVP to rsvp@curatorsintl.org with NOVEL in the subject line. This event is accessible to people with mobility disabilities. Please contact ICI for additional accessibility needs. This program is supported, in part, by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with City Council, and the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and the New York State Legislature.
