Pirate Press Issue Launch

Pirate Press Issue Launch Thursday, August 29, 2013 6:30–8pm ICI Curatorial Hub 401 Broadway, Suite 1620 New York, NY 10013 FREE Pirate Press is a collaborative publication initiated by Christopher Rivera and Misa Jeffereis. The hybrid zine/artist book functions as a platform for new ideas and creative expression. The team selects art-related professionals working in various media—drawing, photography, poetry/writing, and music—to create a focused project, a new commission. Each issue focuses on a relevant theme in contemporary art, inspecting it from a number of different angles. On August 29, Pirate Press will launch its third issue, 450 West 41st Street, an ode to the recently evacuated Hunter College MFA building. The issue focuses on the history of the building, as well as the changed landscape of its neighborhood, Hell’s Kitchen/Port Authority. Contributors include: Bill Abdale, Alejandro Almanza, Hector Arce-Espasas, Warren Ashworth, Andrea Blum, Joel Carreiro, Emmy Catedral, Cynthia Daignault, Jonathan Elliott, Danyel Ferrari, Christina Freeman, Rachel Higgins, Matt Kaelin, Rotem Linial, Andrea Merkx & Nathan Gwynne, Seung-Min Lee, Yoshiaki Mochizuki, Irvin Morazan, Filip Noterdaeme, Carol Radsprecher, Juan Sanchez, and Yunyi Yi. The event is free and open to the public. Please RSVP to rsvp@curatorsintl.org with PIRATE PRESS in the subject field. To purchase one of Pirate Press’s publications, please email misa@curatorsintl.org. Visit the Pirate Press website here.
