Sri Lanka Archive of Contemporary Art, Architecture & Design 199 Temple Road Jaffna, Sri Lanka May 4, 2014 – May 25, 2014 During May, the newly inaugurated Sri Lanka Archive of Contemporary Art, Architecture & Design in Jaffna, Sri Lanka will host Project 35: Volume 2. This compilation of single channel video works explores the interests of a collection of 35 artists chosen by a team of international curators in 2012, including Sri Lankan-based curator Sharmini Pereira. Though the video works are rooted in the artists respective homelands and derive from personal experience, their impact resonates globally. The project is divided into four screenings on consecutive Sundays during the months of May. All screenings are free and open to the public. Project 35 Volume 2 is organized by Independent Curators International (ICI), and assembled in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Archive of Contemporary Art, Architecture & Design. Sri Lanka Archive of Contemporary Art, Architecture & Design is a public archive dedicated to collecting materials, in English, Sinhala and Tamil, related to the development and study of visual culture in Sri Lanka. Access to the Archive is free to all. The Archive is the first physical space of its kind in the country and aspires to provide not only an invaluable resource, but also a space to browse, study, converse and meet.
