Tamar Ettun: a nomadic body?

Tamar Ettun, One Thing Leads to Another, Performa 11, 2011 Tamar Ettun: a nomadic body? Thursday, June 27, 2013 6:30–8pm ICI Curatorial Hub 401 Broadway, Suite 1620 New York, NY 10013 How does one start walking from Jerusalem to Tel Aviv once a month for two and a half years, and why? How is a phantasmagoric world created inside a hot air balloon? And what is the connection between dance, sculpture, Israel, Texas, and nomadic bodies? One Thing Leads to Another is a three-part performance-installation piece created by Tamar Ettun. Rickety bodies playing music with found objects and moving from one side of an inflated hot air balloon to another is an absurd cabaret that connects people to objects. What happens when the body is exposed to life-threatening situations? The borders between body and objects dissolve. Ettun will present ideas related to One Thing Leads to Another, in conversation with curator and artist Naomi Lev. By utilizing some of Ettun’s musical-sculptures, the conversation will finally evolve into an active-experimental-performance in collaboration with the audience. This is the second in a series of conversations at ICI initiated by Lev, focusing on art and artists from Israel. This event is free and open to the public. Please RSVP to rsvp@curatorsintl.org with TAMAR ETTUN in the subject field.
