Performance Now curator RoseLee Goldberg and artist Ragnar Kjartansson are both featured in the most recent issue of Parkett focusing on performance art. In the article “Performance Record”, Goldberg talks with Parkett’s editor-in-chief Bice Curiger and editor Jacqueline Burckhardt about the state of performance in the past 30 years.

Kjartansson, who contributes to Performance Now with the work Bliss (2011), is highlighted in several articles. In “The Lure of Repetition”, Kjartansson’s performances are described as theatrical repetitions that often emphasize life’s tragicomicality.

“Repetition is an important feature in much of Kjartansson’s art. Pivotal works such as BLISS (2011), a live twelve-hour loop of a two-minute aria, and THE END (2009), a six-month painting marathon, are only the most recent and well-known examples of a long-standing interest, first reflected in the artist’s graduation piece from the Iceland Academy of the Arts, in 2001.”
