Ebony G. Patterson (b. 1981 in Kingston, Jamaica; lives and works in Kingston and Chicago, IL) created a tablecloth and napkin set in her unmistakable style, using the layered density of a forest and a floral fabric design as the main visual elements. Reflecting on the act of coming together around the table, Patterson poses the question, Who is missing from your table? prompting remembrance of those lost or afar, as well as awareness of exclusion. Featured in ICI’s 2015-2018 traveling exhibition EN MAS’: Carnival and Performance Art of the Caribbean, curated by Claire Tancons and Krista Thompson, Patterson’s work is currently on view in a solo exhibition at the Contemporary Art Museum in St. Louis, and will be part of upcoming exhibitions at at the Nasher Museum of Art in Durham, NC and the Kunsthal Aarhus in Denmark, and the next Liverpool Biennial and Athens Biennale.
