Miguel Amado is a curator, researcher and critic. He is director of Sirius Arts Centre, Cobh, Co. Cork, Ireland. He has been director of Cork Printmakers, Ireland; senior curator at Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art, England; curator at Tate St Ives, England; curator-in-residence at Abrons Arts Center, New York; curatorial fellow at Rhizome at the New Museum, New York; curator at the Centro de Artes Visuais in Coimbra, Portugal. As a freelancer, he was the curator of the Portuguese Pavilion at the 2013 Venice Biennale and has curated exhibitions and projects at various institutions and events, including the 2015 edition of Foro Arte Cáceres, Spain; apexart, New York; Museu Coleção Berardo, Lisbon; Frieze Projects at Frieze London; No Soul for Sale: A Festival of Independents at the X Initiative, New York, and Tate Modern, London. He has also been a curatorial fellow at Independent Curators International, New York; curator-in-residence at the International Studio and Curatorial Program, New York; and adviser at FRAC Pays de la Loire in Nantes. He has been a writer, lecturer and symposium organiser for organisations such as Artforum; Istituto Europeo di Design, Venice; and ARCO, Madrid. He is a graduate of the MA in Curating Contemporary Art at the Royal College of Art in London.
